International Trip Leaders Needed At Global Student Embassy

The global student embassy is seeking for an  for its exchange programs in Ecuador and Nicaragua.

Responsibilities

– Successfully lead 9 – 14 day student exchange trips for US-high school and university students to Ecuador or Nicaragua

– Plan trip logistics, such as transportation, accommodation, food, cultural and ecotouristic activities, as well as projects, working together with local GSE staff.

– Create in-depth educational experiences by facilitating workshops and group discussions

– Translate between Spanish and English to facilitate interaction between locals and US students

– Be a leadership role model and mentor to students

-Lead groups of local and international GSE students to achieve their objectives together

– Nurture strong positive relationships with fellow trip leaders, teachers, parents, students, providers and GSE staff

– Ensure health, safety and well-being of all participants by establishing clear expectations and boundaries

– Manage GSE’s resources responsibly by keeping track of trip expenses

– Solve problems in changing environments. Redirect things with a smile when they don’t work out as originally planned. Fulfill tasks depending on the needs of the program

-Report to the Exchange Program Manager and provide valuable feedback to constantly improve the quality of programs

Qualifications

Required

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Drive

Preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience
  • Previous work with high school/college aged students
  • Experience living and working abroad
  • Up-to-date Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification
  • Work experience in the fields of international education, travel industry or outdoor education

Duration

Depending on the needs of each program, terms can range between 4 to 7 months. Start dates for trip leaders in Nicaragua are December 2016 and February 2017. Start dates in Ecuador are December 2016 and February 2017. The program season ends in July 2017

Location

Trip leaders will be responsible for their own housing arrangements, though Global Student Embassy will provide support to find homestays, hostels or apartments. Programs in Ecuador are located in Bahía de Caráquez and Cuenca. Programs in Nicaragua are located in Managua, León and Boaco.
