
About the Position: The Political Science Department and the American Cultural Studies Program at Western Washington University invite applications for a tenure-track position in African American Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in September 2018. The tenure line will reside in Political Science.
Job Qualification:
- Doctorate or ABD in Political Science or related fields, with expected completion by June 15, 2019
- Specialization in one of the following: African American political behavior, African Americans and American Political Development, African Americans and American Political Institutions, or African American Political Thought
- Ability to effectively teach introductory and upper division courses in American Politics, including advanced courses in African American Politics and related areas
- Ability to effectively teach introductory and upper division courses in American Cultural Studies
- Ability to teach introductory research methods/social statistics
- Ability to conduct high quality scholarship in the area of African American Politics
- Ability to work and interact with culturally diverse student organizations and academic programs
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff
Preferred Qualification:
- Ability to pursue a methodologically intersectional approach to African American politics
