Applications are currently on for the position of a Senior Program officer at the Asian Regional Office of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in New Delhi, India.
-You will play a key role in developing and implementing the Burma initiative.
-Working in collaboration with stakeholders in Burma, regionally and in Canada.
-Identify critical issues related to inclusive democratic transition and employment and growth in Burma.
-Take the lead in developing, managing, monitoring, reporting on and evaluating a portfolio of research projects, and support the development of research capacity within Burma ensuring that the objectives of the program are met.
- PhD and a record of research and publication in a relevant discipline such as international development, international relations, political science or political economy OR Master’s degree in a relevant discipline and significant work experience.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant work experience in developing countries, especially Burma, which includes: leading, managing and undertaking research projects; assessing capacity development needs and strengthening capacities; consulting and building partnerships with researchers, decision-makers and policy actors to identify research needs and facilitate research uptake; measuring and communicating key results; working with multiple stakeholders; and building bridges between researchers, decision-makers and policy actors to influence public policy and practice.
- Superior English languages communications skills.
- Knowledge of current debates and research agendas on promoting democracy and economic development in developing countries, in particular Burma.
