Responsibility of Head of Outreach & Engagement

The Head of Outreach & Engagement will be part of the department responsible for designing and implementing the company’s engagement, partnerships, and campaign strategies. This role will report to the Chief of Impact Officer and lead a 5-7 staff team.

Key responsibilities include

  • Implementation of the Outreach & Eng implementation agement strategy, including supporting regional leads in engagement strategies for the local partners.
  • Own relationship management of “key accounts,” directly engaging high-impact companies and financial institutions; and serving as a key representative on behalf of the organization, managing incoming corporate inquiries.
  • Develop efficient knowledge transfer and ongoing capacity-building strategies for the local partners, such as training and working groups.
  • Leads & coordinates Partner Organization engagement on corporate engagement, focusing on equity across organs and maximum impact – including regular calls.
  • Enable Regional Leads to adapt and implement the Outreach & Engagement strategy to the regional context and audience, such as supporting the development of regional work plans, recruitment targets, and working groups.
  • Enable Regional Leads to establish strategic partnerships at the regional level, aligned with the market transformation strategy.
  • Enable Regional Leads to Implement global campaigns at the regional level.
  • Develop global, regional, and sectoral recruitment targets and progress reporting guidelines.
  • Track progress against annual outreach & engagement strategy and work plan.

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience in corporate engagement, management of working groups/communities of practice, stakeholder management, and development of partnerships.
  • Good understanding of corporate sustainability topics, particularly climate change, GHG emissions accounting, and corporate mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience with corporate sustainability and/or engagement of companies and organizations for sustainability initiatives
  • Experience with team management.
  • Additionally, the candidate possesses excellent public speaking skills and a proven ability to interact with representatives from different levels in the private, nonprofit, and public sectors. This enables them to confidently and fluently communicate key engagement messages and goals.
  • A degree in business administration, external/public relations, international relations, marketing, sustainability, environmental science, economics, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to make complex technical subjects accessible to non-expert audiences;
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, prioritize and give strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of teams and external stakeholders, liaising as needed across different time zones and cultures;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours due to the international nature of the work.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to commence immediately.

This is a full-time role based in Europe (Paris/ Berlin/ London) or in the USA (Washington/ NY). The salary for this role will be dependent on location and level of experience.

This role is a fixed-term contract for 24 months with the possibility of an extension. Applicants must be eligible to work in the location applied since the organization cannot sponsor working visas.
