Students with excellent educational backgrounds enrolling in the first year of undergraduate or entering in postgraduate degree can apply for the award. 10 scholarships of NZ$10,000 are for bachelor’s and master’s degree students and 9 awards of NZ$5,000 are for master’s degree only. Also, 110 Ph.D. awards are given to students every year with a value of $27,500 stipend annually plus tuition fees. The grant is available toward tuition fees once the candidate is enrolled in University.
